MEd in Literacy and Reading Specialist Program
Announcement about Accreditation
ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø's College of Education and Communications is pleased to announce that the MEd in Literacy and Reading Specialist Program has earned national recognition by the International Literacy Association, formerly known as the International Reading Association. This program is offered to educators certified in teaching who are pursuing graduate studies in reading and literacy theories, research, and instructional practices. This accreditation recognizes exemplary practices in which candidates demonstrate attainment of the IRA standards for literacy professionals.
The program infuses levels of coaching throughout the coursework, and this initiative has been deemed a model for all institutions according to the IRA. All full-time faculty members have doctoral degrees in the discipline and represent diverse cultural groups. Faculty members with reading specialist certification and many years of teaching experience supervise Practicum activities with children and adolescents.
