Reenrollment Procedures

The reenrollment deadline is one week prior to the start of the semester in which you are applying for readmission.

Preferred First Name Policy

The university has established this policy that allows students, faculty, staff, and alumni to indicate their preferred first names to the university community, even if they have not legally changed their first name.

Pre-approved Coursework

Students enrolled at IUP who wish to take coursework at another institution (either during the summer or regular semesters) must complete the proper application prior to taking the course(s).

Pass/Fail

The Pass Fail Policy gives undergraduate students the option of taking a course for credit but without quality points.

Grade Appeal Policy

The Grade Appeal Policy provides a mechanism for grade review under conditions associated specifically with discrimination or with capricious evaluation.

Fresh Start Policy

Upon readmission, a new cumulative (GPA) is established based on credits and grades earned from the date of readmission.

Finals

The final examination week is part of the regular academic program and must be incorporated into each instructor’s course plan for the semester.

FERPA

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) affords students certain rights with respect to their education records.

Excess Credits

An undergraduate student who wishes to schedule 18 or more credits must obtain approval from the dean of the college of the student's major.

D-F Repeat

Credit Hour

Definition of academic credit hour as defined by the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø State System of Higher Education and the federal government.

Course Scheduling Preference for Veterans

This policy complies with PA Act 46 and defines the requirements for veteran students and others to receive course scheduling preference under Act 46.

Canceled Semester Policy

The Canceled Semester Policy provides for cancellation from the cumulative record of the effects of one semester below a GPA of 2.00 for the purpose of helping a student improve academic standing.

Audit Policy

Students who audit courses have the opportunity to attend classes, but will not receive a grade or credit for the course.

Active Duty
