Preferred First Name PolicyThe university has established this policy that allows students, faculty, staff, and alumni to indicate their preferred first names to the university community, even if they have not legally changed their first name.
Pre-approved CourseworkStudents enrolled at IUP who wish to take coursework at another institution (either during the summer or regular semesters) must complete the proper application prior to taking the course(s).
Pass/FailThe Pass Fail Policy gives undergraduate students the option of taking a course for credit but without quality points.
Grade Appeal PolicyThe Grade Appeal Policy provides a mechanism for grade review under conditions associated specifically with discrimination or with capricious evaluation.
Fresh Start PolicyUpon readmission, a new cumulative (GPA) is established based on credits and grades earned from the date of readmission.
The final examination week is part of the regular academic program and must be incorporated into each instructor’s course plan for the semester.

Excess CreditsAn undergraduate student who wishes to schedule 18 or more credits must obtain approval from the dean of the college of the student's major.

Course Scheduling Preference for VeteransThis policy complies with PA Act 46 and defines the requirements for veteran students and others to receive course scheduling preference under Act 46.

Canceled Semester PolicyThe Canceled Semester Policy provides for cancellation from the cumulative record of the effects of one semester below a GPA of 2.00 for the purpose of helping a student improve academic standing.
Audit PolicyStudents who audit courses have the opportunity to attend classes, but will not receive a grade or credit for the course.
Active DutyIUP Policy for enrolled students called to active military service.
