Faculty witness and observe numerous student behaviors that are disruptive or concerning in the classroom. It can be difficult to know when and how to intervene to ensure that a positive classroom environment is maintained and that all students have the best chance of learning and success. IUP offers many services to support faculty intervention for struggling students, but how do faculty learn about how these services help in specific instances?
Utilizing a Green Dot Bystander Intervention framework and techniques, this training will assist faculty in identifying the barriers that may sometimes prevent them from intervening when concerning student behaviors appear, and provide hands-on practical approaches to know how to positively intervene.
Participants will learn about services offered by IUP offices to assist in interventions and work in small and large groups to develop successful strategies for intervening to become better prepared to address issues that arise in their classrooms.
