Anchor links (also called jump links, bookmarks, or skip links) allow you to link to a particular spot within the same page or a different page.
To create an anchor link:
- Place your cursor at the spot on the page where you'd like your destination anchor—where you want the anchor link to lead. Click the Anchor button in the toolbar.
- Enter a unique ID for your anchor and click OK. The ID cannot have any blank spaces.
- Note: Remember this ID or copy it somewhere; you'll need it for the next steps.
- If the anchor link will be on a different page, submit this page for publishing. Then edit the page that will link to the anchor.
- Highlight the text that will be the anchor link. Use the Insert/Edit link button in the toolbar to create an "Internal" link.
- If the anchor is on a different page, use the page chooser to browse for that page. Select the page and click Choose.
- In the Anchor field, type or paste the exact ID you used when creating the destination anchor. This will append the anchor ID to the end of the link's URL.
- Preview the page and check the link. If it works, submit the page.
Troubleshooting
If the anchor link does not work:
- Make sure the anchor ID matches the anchor link's Anchor field.
- Anchors within expanding boxes will not work unless the expanding box is opened first.
