Jozefowicz and Economics Alumni Contribute to Econometric Analysis Book

Graduates of the IUP honors track in Economics have had their work published in the recently released book, Applied Econometric Analysis: Emerging Research and Opportunities, co-edited by Yaya Sissoko (IUP) and Brian Sloboda (University of Phoenix).

Economics Scholarships Awarded for 2020-21 Academic Year

Thanks to the past and ongoing generosity of alumni, faculty, staff, administrators, and friends, the Department of Economics is pleased to have awarded six scholarships for the 2020–21 academic year.

Economics Majors Recognized Among 2020 Provost Scholars

Seven economics majors have been named to the recently released fall 2020 list of IUP Provost Scholars in recognition of their completion of at least 45 credits at IUP while earning a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.5 or higher. This honor is bestowed only once during a student’s course of study at IUP.

IUP Students Participate in Urban-Rural Dialogue Program

Earlier this fall semester, six IUP students participated in “Power of Dialogue (POD): Deconstructing the Urban-Rural Divide,” a joint effort between Georgetown University, Radford University, Columbia University, and IUP.

Sissoko Presents on External Debt Impact on Economic Growth and Investment in ECOWAS Countries

Yaya Sissoko presented a paper titled, “The External Debt and Its Impact on Economic Growth and Investment in ECOWAS Countries” (co-authored with Brian Sloboda) at the ninetieth International Atlantic Economic Virtual Annual Meeting, October 15–18, 2020.

Sissoko Publishes Article on Value Chain Frameworks

In June 2020, Yaya Sissoko published “A Reformulated Value Chain Framework Useful for Different Kinds of Markets” (co-authored with Jeffrey Forrest, Yong Liu, John Golden, and Qiaoxing Li) in the Journal of Business Economic Studies.

Sissoko Publishes Article on Economic Growth in ECOWAS Countries

In July 2020, Yaya Sissoko published “The Determinants of Economic Growth in ECOWAS Countries: An Empirical Investigation” (co-authored with Brian Sloboda) in the African Journal of Economic Review.

Sissoko Co-edits Book on Econometric Analysis

Published in June 2020, Yaya Sissoko co-edited the book Applied Econometric Analysis: Emerging Research and Opportunities, which includes his article “Does Regional Variation in Startup Concentration Predict Employment Growth in Rural Areas of Ohio, ϳԹ, and West Virginia?”

Economics major Justina Mascaro won the Scholar-Athlete of the Year Crimson and Gray Award. The junior guard on the IUP women’s basketball team was recognized for her outstanding performance both on the court and in the classroom. 

Economist Radell Awarded Emeritus Status

Congratulations to Willard W. Radell who was awarded professor emeritus status in May 2020. Professor Radell retired on August 16, 2019, after 38 years of dedicated service to the Department of Economics at IUP.

Economics Major Mascaro Named PSAC West Co-Defensive Athlete of the Week

Congratulations to economics major Justina Mascaro who recently was recognized as the ϳԹ State Athletic Conference Western Division co-Defensive Athlete of the Week. This marks Mascaro’s third weekly recognition of the IUP women’s basketball season.
