Temptation of the Muses
The Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company and the Ahn Trio combine their respective art forms of music and dance on stage to present a mesmerizing display of sheer aural and visual beauty in Temptation of the Muses. While in Indiana, they will also present a wide variety of outreach events as follows:

- Program on “The Art of Chinese Dance” - 1:45 p.m. - Blairsville High School Auditorium
Nai-Ni Chen will present a program titled “” at Blairsville High School auditorium for grades 3-5. During this multi-cultural and interactive dance program, the dance company will use dazzling costumes and fantastic props to take the students on a journey to explore China, one of the most ancient cultures in the world. Through a detailed narration on the background and inspiration of each dance, this engaging presentation will teach history, geography, and the basic practice of traditional dance, beginning with the ribbon dance of the Han dynasty, and continuing to the beautiful and elegant Celestial Lake dance created by Nai-Ni Chen a few years ago.

- Lecture/Demonstration: 8:30-9:30 a.m. - Indiana Area High School, Indiana, PA
The three members of the Ahn Trio will present to Indiana High School music students. They will talk about various aspects of music, as well as career opportunities as a musician. Music will include standard trio literature, their more contemporary repertoire, and examples of their collaborative work with Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company.

- Workshop: 5:30-6:30 p.m. - Zink Hall Dance Studio, IUP Main Campus
Nai-Ni Chen and the Ahn Trio combine to talk about the influence of Chinese and Korean dance and music upon them, the ways an Eastern approach to music and dance is differed from Western approaches, and the collaborative process of fusing various arts disciplines and genres into new work. This activity is open to all interested in attending regardless of their dance background.

- Dance Masterclass: 7:00-8:00 p.m. - Zink Hall Dance Studio, IUP Main Campus
Nai-Ni Chen will present a masterclass on Chinese Dance to the IUP dance studio along with a select number of high school students from local and regional dance studios. Participation is limited to these individuals, and anyone is welcome to audit.
These outreach events are presented free of charge by ArtsPath, the Arts-in-Education program of the Lively Arts, in advance of the Temptation of the Muses performance by Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company and the Ahn Trio at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, in Fisher Auditorium.
