This workshop will address the concept of personality disorders, diagnostic criteria and the most common disorders seen. Attention will focus on working with this sometimes difficult and confusing population that challenges clinicians, and leads to non therapeutic responses. Approaches that work will be explored.

By the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be able to:
- define a personality disorder - its characteristics and history;
- present most common disorders seen in addiction;
- discuss treatment approaches and pitfalls.
