Description: This project required a review of the research on batterers and batterer intervention programs to help determine the most appropriate guidelines for program format, modality, and staffing. Emerging standards in other states and in related fields were also reviewed and considered. The standards are administered by the Texas Council on Family Violence and approved by the Texas Department of Corrections which provides funding for batterer programs.
Goal: to establish guidelines for batterer programs in Texas that will be used in state funding allocations and developing technical assistance.
