President's Statement on Recent Graffiti Incidents

Today, university officials learned of several incidents of graphic drawings on trees appearing to depict a hanging. While we do not know the motives for the graffiti, the potential impact has already affected members of our university community. As images are discovered, they are being removed.

A letter was sent Friday, April 15, from each State System university president to his/her local APSCUF chair, providing required notification of the possibility of retrenchment for the 2012-2013 academic year.

Following the governor’s recommendation to decrease the state allocation to PASSHE by 50 percent for 2011–2012, President Werner stressed that IUP and the State System will make every effort to avoid disruptions to the education process.
