Florida Higher Education Leader Selected as Next PASSHE Chancellor

The Board of Governors of the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø State System of Higher Education has selected Frank T. Brogan, chancellor of the State University System of Florida, to serve as PASSHE’s next chancellor.

Community Open Forum Hosted by President Driscoll and Mayor Hood

The forum will be held Thursday, August 8, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Jimmy Stewart Museum at 845 Philadelphia Street. Budget Reductions for Fiscal Year 2013–14

To meet a $5.786 million projected shortfall for fiscal year 2013–14, central budget reductions were made, new revenue identified, and each vice president and the Office of the President have worked to identify $3.987 million in budget reductions. These cuts do not include any active employee reductions and will not change our primary mission of service to our students.

General Guidelines Related to Budget Reduction Efforts for Fiscal Year 2013–14

Budget reductions totaling $3.97 million must be identified within the next 45 days. President Michael Driscoll is relying on the leadership and expertise of vice presidents in determining budget reductions, and has provided them with a set of general strategic criteria to guide their choices.

Papakie Named President's Associate for Strategic Visioning

President Michael Driscoll has appointed Michele Papakie, associate professor of journalism, his associate in the IUP strategic visioning project. Papakie will lead a team of 30 students who will spend the rest of the calendar year facilitating the next steps of the project.

Student Death: Dallas Lee Miller

Dallas Lee Miller, of New Holland, passed away. He was a senior majoring in Physical Education and Sport, and was well-known for his internship work at the KCAC and for his leadership on the Spirit Team. In his memory and honor, there will be a moment of silence during the men's basketball game on February 20, 2013.

Student Death: Joseph Balaban

Joseph Balaban, of Waynesburg passed away. He was a Vocational-Technical Education major in the College of Education and Educational Technology. A teacher at Western Area Career and Technology Center in Canonsburg, Joseph was named ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Vocational Teacher of the Year in 2010.
