Although counseling is considered to be a strength-based process, strength identification (SI) can be a challenging and often a subjective process. This workshop examines the SI process in detail, including strength-based instruments, and ideas on how to integrate strengths in the change process.
Objectives
- Explain the difficulties in the strength identification process.
- Compare/contrast at least two instruments that measure strengths.
- Construct at least two ways to integrate strengths into the counseling process.
Target Audience: Clinical personnel, counselors, psychiatrists, psychologists, educators, criminal justice professionals, health care professionals.
