On Tuesday, November 28 at 7pm in the Indiana Theater in downtown Indiana PA, local electronic musicians Rapid Uncontrolled Disassembly partners with the IUP Student Film Association in presenting a series of music videos. Over the course of six songs and six videos we’ll follow a number of characters that stretch into liminal dimensions and experience absurd activity. These realms appear familiar, yet otherworldly. In April, IT held two informational sessions on OneSIS or One Student Information System, the Ellucian Banner Managed Cloud Shared Technology platform being adopted by PASSHE. Sarah Gann, a student in IUP’s clinical psychology doctoral program, is launching a study designed to determine how a virtual pet game application can affect adolescent mental health. She is looking for adolescent participants (children between the ages of 13 and 18). Her presentation of this proposed study won IUP’s 2022 Three-Minute Thesis competition.

The ϳԹ State System of Higher Education is in the process of implementing a common Student Information System across the State System schools. IUP is scheduled to begin implementing OneSIS in January 2024.
Author and academic Roosevelt Montás will present “Rescuing Socrates: How the Great Books Changed My Life and Why They Matter for a New Generation” at ϳԹ on March 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Sutton Hall’s Gorell Auditorium. The presentation is free and open to the community.
ϳԹ’s Theater-By-The-Grove will present Mark Clayton Southers’ “Nine Days in the Sun” at IUP. This initiative begins Theater-By-The-Grove’s association with Pittsburgh Playwrights Theatre Company, where Southers is the founding artistic director. The play explores a world where dark skin is the desired tone, so the racial balance is shifted and the social order in America is turned upside down.
IUP will continue the 2022–23 planetarium shows during the spring semester with “Winter Wonders” on February 28. The program, exploring the winter constellations of Orion and Taurus, also will include information about the Orion nebula and the fact that a supernova remnant is up in the sky every winter evening.
Laurie McNeil, a nationally recognized condensed matter-materials physicist, will be at ϳԹ on February 9 and 10 to present three programs as the spring 2023 IUP Sigma Xi distinguished speaker.

Debra Evans Smith, a 1981 IUP criminology graduate who received the university’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 2022, will be honored on November 4 during the ϳԹ State System of Higher Education’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Summit for her longstanding contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts at IUP.
ϳԹ’s Institute for Cybersecurity, in collaboration with the Information Technology Support Center, will host the fifteenth annual Cybersecurity Day on October 18. This annual event features nationally recognized security experts as well as speakers from regional law enforcement, government, the security industry, and academia.
