Executive Director, CEO
Bucks County Opportunity Council
Allen Childs was appointed executive director-CEO of the Bucks County Opportunity Council in February 2014, fulfilling his long-held goal to use his work experience to give back to the community. Prior to this, he enjoyed a 33-year career in the corporate automotive industry, working the last 12 years in executive positions at Nissan North America. Over the course of this time, he headed six different business units in the United States and Canada. Childs' extensive marketing, sales, and international business experience combined with cross-functional, cross-cultural leadership qualified him for selection as a member of both Nissan America's Executive and Operating committees.
Childs retired as president of Nissan Canada, Inc. in January 2013, and with his wife, Glenda, turned his focus on becoming an active member of the Bucks County community. Together, they purchased the Doylestown Bookshop, which Glenda operates, while Allen turned his attention to the Bucks County Opportunity Council, whose mission is to help people in poverty achieve permanent economic self-sufficiency.
Allen Childs is an active member of the Doylestown Presbyterian Church, Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce, and Doylestown Rotary. In addition, Childs is an engaged member of the board of directors at Central Bucks YMCA and Americans for Native Americans (ANA).
Childs graduated from ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing, and completed INSEAD University's Executive Training Program in 2007.
