In keeping with its ongoing commitment to meeting the needs of students, ϳԹ’s Council of Trustees today approved reducing annual tuition by $2,690, or almost 20 percent, for out-of-state, undergraduate, domestic students who take 15 credits per semester.
To be named a Provost Scholar, students must have earned a minimum of 45 semester hours at IUP with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Provost Scholar recognition is given only once during a student's time of study at IUP.

Donta Green works every day to be a positive influence in the lives of the people around him. In his day job, he is the CEO of the Trade Institute of Pittsburgh, a nonprofit that helps people with barriers to education get job skills in construction and masonry, as well as life skills such as interviewing and personal finance.

Five graduates of ϳԹ who served during the Vietnam War have organized a rededication ceremony for IUP’s Vietnam Veterans Memorial in its new location in front of IUP’s Pierce Hall—marking the fortieth anniversary of the original dedication of the memorial.

Three organizations at ϳԹ—UBORA Men of IUP, the Haven Project, and the University College—will present “Redefining Masculinity” on November 9 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Hadley Union Building Ohio Room. The event, free and open to the community, is designed to offer male-identifying and masculine-presenting individuals at IUP an opportunity to examine the role masculinity plays in society, both negatively and positively.

Two internationally known civil rights and diversity advocates will present programs at IUP in October 2022. ϳԹ President Michael Driscoll and ϳԹ Highlands Community College President Steve Nunez signed a dual admissions program agreement on September 16, 2022, designed to streamline the process for students who earn an associate degree at Penn Highlands to complete a bachelor’s degree program at IUP.

Abigail Hancox, of Albion, a political science major with a pre-law concentration and minor in homeland security in the Cook Honors College at IUP, has been confirmed to serve as a member of the ϳԹ State System Board of Governors. She currently serves as president of the IUP Student Government Association.
Following a national search, a professional with extensive and progressive financial aid experience has been selected to serve as director of Financial Aid at ϳԹ. Tiffany Potts, who most recently served as associate director of Financial Aid at IUP, was chosen for the position. Potts has been a staff member of the Office of Financial Aid since April 2010.
ϳԹ has been recognized as second in the state for affordability, third in the state as a “best public college,” and in the top 20 in the state as a “ϳԹ’s Best Overall” university by AcademicInfluence.com.
Grace Skarzynski of North Huntingdon, a May graduate of ϳԹ’s Student Affairs in Higher Education master’s program, has been selected for a 2022–23 Fulbright English Teaching Assistant award to Greece.

ϳԹ Vice President for Enrollment Management, Patricia Curran McCarthy, has been selected by Ruffalo Noel Levitz to serve on its Undergraduate Enrollment Advisory Board.
Sfen Kadirifu, a junior international studies major with a focus in fashion at IUP, has been selected for a 2022 Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship. The scholarship will help to fund her study at Yonsei University in South Korea for the fall 2022 semester of her senior year at IUP. She is IUP’s twenty-first Gilman scholarship recipient.
Students in ϳԹ’s Department of Art and Design’s three-dimensional art and design course used IUP’s STEAMshop—IUP’s digital fabrication makerspace—to light the way in IUP’s Sprowls Hall. Students in Sharon Massey and Sean Derry’s Art 113 course used Rhino 3D and Fusion Slicer software to design hanging light fixtures for the building, which is home to IUP’s Department of Art and Design.

IUP is one of 40 universities in the nation selected for the Institute of International Education American Passport Project grant. This grant funds up to 25 IUP students who are first-year enrolled students who meet financial eligibility requirements to obtain a US passport to support their study abroad journeys.
