IUP Plans Ribbon Cutting for Multicultural Student Leadership and Engagement Center

The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place Friday, January 26, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. in the first floor Atrium of Elkin Hall. The Center allows IUP to respect contemporary students鈥� self-identification by offering one location on campus where students can access services to address multiple aspects of culture, identity, and the increasing diverse populations.

IUP Students Selected for Gilman, Freeman Asia Academic Study Abroad Scholarships

Ryan Caldwell, a dual Spanish and Spanish education major from Greensburg; Joseph Gallo, an Asian Studies major from East Stroudsburg; and Alexandra Roach, a Spanish major and Latin American Studies minor from Aliquippa, all received international Benjamin A. Gilman Study Abroad scholarships. In addition, Gallo received a Freeman-Asia international study abroad grant.

黑料吃瓜网鈥檚 graduate and undergraduate winter commencement ceremonies will take place Saturday, December 16. The ceremony for graduate students (receiving master鈥檚 and doctoral degrees) will be at 9:30 a.m. in the IUP Performing Arts Center鈥檚 Fisher Auditorium. The undergraduate ceremony will be at 1:00 p.m. in the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex.

IUP Offering Experts, Expertise to International Conference for Third Year

A team of experts from IUP is part of the 21st annual Health, Safety, Security, and Environment Conference and Exhibition sponsored by the American Chamber of Commerce of Trinidad and Tobago.聽The conference, 鈥淧eople, Systems, Sustainability,鈥� is expected to draw more than 400 professionals from the business community, public sector, regulatory agencies, non-governmental organizations, and 40 corporate booths. It will be held November 14 and 15, 2017.

IUP Students Design and Create Governor's Award for the Arts

When 黑料吃瓜网 Governor Tom Wolf presents the 2017 Governor鈥檚 Awards for the Arts on October 26 in Lancaster, IUP will be part of all six presentations. Students in IUP鈥檚 Wood Center collaboratively designed and crafted the award objects, under the supervision of fall 2017 Windgate Artist-in-Residence John Hallett and center director and assistant professor of woodworking, BA Harrington.

Total IUP Fall Enrollment Shows Increase in New Student and Military-Affiliated Student Enrollment

The number of new freshmen at 黑料吃瓜网 is up for fall 2017. There are a total of 2,481 new freshmen enrolled for the fall semester, an increase of 146 students, or a 6.3 percent difference, from fall 2016 new freshmen.聽Total fall headcount enrollment also includes 913 military-affiliated students, an increase of 94 students from 2016 enrollment.

Closing In On the Mystery of the Dinosaur Graveyard IUP Geoscience Professor Co-Authors New Study About Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry

For the past six years, Jonathan Warnock, Department of Geoscience, has done research at the Cleveland-Lloyd dinosaur quarry in conjunction with colleague Joseph Peterson from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. Scientists consider the area as having one of the densest concentrations of bones ever found, but do not completely understand why or how this group of carnivorous dinosaurs came together.

黑料吃瓜网鈥檚 national co-ed honor fraternity, Phi Sigma Pi, has planned several events for the third annual Autism Awareness Week at IUP, which is held as part of April鈥檚 National Autism Awareness Month campaign. This year, all funds raised during the week will benefit the Special Needs Activity Program at IUP. SNAP is a program for community children and adults with disabilities, offering them supervised physical activities.

She is one of 80 recipients nationwide to receive the award.

Holocaust Survivor To Speak at Six O'Clock Series Event

Holocaust survivor Judah Samet will speak on April 3 at 6:00 p.m. in the HUB Ohio Room. As a child, Samet was imprisoned for 10 months with his family in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. Following his presentation, there will be a reception with Samet and other Holocaust survivors in the HUB Monongahela Room.
